CORYDON CHAMPIONS IN SWEDEN
Our first export was to Sweden, this was RALVERA’S DONNASMAID. She had one litter for us before she went. This litter was very successful as it contained CORYDON COUNTRYMAN and CORYDON COALBLACKMAID.
She won 2 Challenge Certificates in Sweden and was the dam of:
NOR CH MANEROSS GOLDEN GRIEG
NOR CH MANEROSS GOLDEN GOUDA
The breed has a problem in Sweden as some breeders are seeming to be only interested in changing the breed from a gentle herding breed into a breed to compare with Dobermans and Rotweillers. I do not know why they should be doing this? Maybe it is because they find it too difficult to breed a genuine Rough Collie, or because they have decided to go against the accepted breeders and have a “I know best” attitude. What ever their aspirations, they are wrong. You cannot and should not try to turn a herding breed into a guard type dog. Do they not realise that it has taken many thousands of years to develop this herding instinct. Who do they think they are to try and do what they intend to do?
Why is the Swedish Kennel Club allowing this situation to get so out of hand?
All I know about the people involved in this dreadful plan is a person who came all the way from Sweden to look at my kennel. For the first, and so far only time, they lasted 5 minutes before I escorted them out of my property. I have never found anybody so rude as this person, and now I am not at all surprised to hear that she is one of the leaders of this nefarious plan.
I find it quite incomprehensible that breeders in Sweden should have to register their litter in Finland or Norway to escape the clutches of these dreadful people.
Come on Swedish Kennel Club. You are losing money and credibility over this issue. It is up to you to take charge and get rid of these people. Otherwise you will be ostracised by the rest of the World’s Rough Collie Breeders.
