By NU Ch Corydon Augustus Caesar ex Corydon Polyhanna
Not a big show winner but a dam to treasure.
She was the dam of:
Ch Corydon Gold Star
Corydon Battle Star - 1 Reserve CC
Corydon Rising Star
CORYDON HANNASTAR, was an only puppy from Corydon Polyhanna’s fourth litter. She was born on the 22nd July 1981 by NU Ch Corydon Augustus Caesar
She was not the prettiest bitch we have ever had, but what a dam. There are so many lines all over the world that go back to her that I am having great trouble in tracking them all down.
She did do some good winning though and these included four first prizes and Best Puppy in Show at the London and provincial open show in February 1982 and she followed that up with three first prizes at WELKS Ch show. She qualified for the KC Stud Book by being placed second in the Open Bitch class at Windsor Ch show in 1985. Corydon Caruso won the Reserve Dog CC on the same day.
Asta had four litters, the first was to Ch Geoffdon Lawmaker and she produced six puppies, born on the 19th September 1982 all sable and white, four dogs and two bitches. We kept a dog ad he became Ch Corydon Gold Star, the rest of them went as pets.
Her second litter were born on the 9th August 1983 and this litter contained ten puppies. Three males and seven bitches. Three of the bitch puppies were tricolour, the rest sable and white. Again we kept a dog Corydon Battle Star who won a Reserve CC as a puppy but died from lung cancer when he was just eighteen months old. A tragedy as I thought he was very nice.
Her third litter were sired by Nz Ch Corydon Hotrod and this time there were nine puppies, born on the 7th October 1984 there were seven males and two bitches one of whom was a tri. There were three tri dogs, the rest sable and white. Again we kept a dog, this time his name was Corydon Rising Star. He won best in show at the Midland Collie Club and then went to the Cakes in Australia. Again the rest of the litter were sold as pets.
Her fourth and last litter was to Ch Duntiblae Rob Roy born on the 14feb 1986, but there was just one sable bitch puppy who became Corydon Alona Star. More of her later, We used Roy because he was by Corydon King Hector out of Bririch Gold Refrain who was by Ch Bririch Gold Edition out of Ch Bririch Idcam Amanda who was by Ch Ramsey of Rokeby. So we kept the line breeding going.
Rising star went to Australia as a young dog, but not before he had a best in show win at the midland collie club show. He was bought by the cakes who had bought Hero, but they moved house soon after and they boarded him with Carol Freeman, and he stayed there for the rest of his life. He was hardly shown at all, but what a stud dog. He sired at least 26 Aus champs.
Her Champion child was Ch Corydon Gold Star from her first litter.. Amongst others he was the sire of Corydon Rosy O Grady who was exported to Finland where she became a quite exceptional dam with Int Ch Blackelles Dark Buccaneer amongst her children. Buccaneer was an outstanding stud dog and sired very many champions in eastern europe. She also produced the exceptionally beautiful FS Ch Blackelles Flying Icarus and several other big winners.
Asta was a lovely pet and was actually my son Julian,s special favourite. This was particularly pleasing as most of our friends know that Julian is autistic. She lived to a good old age.
